The Wayback

VR FILM SERIES

A small personal project that became HUGE. I helped co-found The Wayback;
a groundbreaking, free VR film series designed for people living with dementia
and their carers that recreates positive moments from the past, taking viewers
back in time to trigger memories and spark precious conversations.
It’s virtual reminiscence therapy.

230 generous kickstarter backers helped us fund the pilot film, which
features 170 volunteer extras and faithfully recreates a street party
from the 1953 Coronation. The second and third films are World Cup 1966
and 1969 Moon landing themed.

Awards, amongst others included the inaugural D&AD 'Side Hustle',
The Essex County Council Challenge Dementia 2018, and Gold at the
Art Of Creativity Awards meaning it's now in The BFI National Archives.
